Contract 2nd Line Support

Late in 2013 I took on my first Legal IT Support contract at Eversheds LLP in Cardiff via Computacenter. One of their experienced technical staff had to take an extended leave of absence and hired me for fill in cover.

This was a very interesting new challenge for me, as I had never experienced the legal environment before. Learning this role proved to be a very rewarding, both professionally and personally. During this contract, I found that I have an aptitude for supporting the particular requirements for the Legal IT Environment.

This position was mostly visiting internal customers at their desk-side to resolve incidents. Here, face to face communication and deportment was as important a skill as technical acumen. As the IT estate had been outsourced to Computacenter, there was also a requirement to be sensitive to the client relationship in place, on top of the usual ITIL considerations.
